Lemont Hornets Football Information Night coming up | Lemont ...

When Lemont Township High School was founded in 1906, it had just one class consisting of five students. The school eventually expanded to 100 students in 1925 when its current building first opened. Today, Lemont High School serves nearly 1,500 students, and offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, sports and clubs.

LHS follows the Block 8 system, where students are enrolled in eight courses that meet every other day. Subjects covered in nearly 200 classes offered during the school year include math, science, social studies, English, music, art, foreign language, and career and technical education.

According to the 2009 Illinois School Report Card, 73.6 percent of students met or exceeded state standards, ranking LHS among the top high schools in the state. The average ACT score for the graduating class was 22.7--the highest in school history.

Dr. Thomas Trengove has served as the principal at Lemont High School since 1993. Dr. Sandra Doebert has been the superintendent since 2002.

Current District 210 School Board members are: Beverly Marzec (President), Pam Driscoll (Vice President), Mark McMahon (Secretary), Mike Kardas, Rita O'Brien, George Rimbo and Mike Shackel. The board meets monthly at LHS. Dates can be found on the school's website.
