Concrete tiles last longer than clay but are subject to the same issues as clay with underlayment. Both resist rot and insects.

Shingles aren?t as durable as clay or concrete tiles and have even risen in price recently. Asphalt shingles are lightweight and can resist being walked upon without breaking. Shingles are susceptible to blowing off of your roof during a storm and they tend to absorb heat from the sun.
