I am huge fan of co-sleeping and I enjoyed all the cuddling time I got with her the first two years of her life. But my husband and I decided that things needed to change and most importantly, Penelope seemed like she was ready for that change.

We felt like we had given her a really good foundation and that although the Attachment Parenting Organization recommends letting a child decide when they will leave the family bed, usually around age 3 to 5,?they also say that if a child is ready, they are ready. ?And that most parents do exactly as we do, lay down with her till she is?asleep?or almost asleep and anytime she wakes up or needs us she is welcome back in our bed.

If she had screamed and cried and showed any sign that she was not ready to leave our family bed, we would have aborted plans and tried again later.

Like I had mentioned in my Over Mothering post, previous to this summer, I felt like I was only a good Mother if there were no boundaries, and that I had to constantly sacrifice my happiness and well being in order to be a good mother.

But then I realized that I was, in fact, an important part of the mother-child relationship and that I had a say. I have a right to say when things are not working for me. And getting up 6 times a night, for two straight years, was not working for me anymore!

The process of getting my daughter to sleep in her own room, in her own bed, was a very, very long process.It began with night weaning.Just that process alone was several months. I slowly introduced the idea, via books and lots of talking about nuh-nuhs only when the sun shines.

Once we had night weaning accomplished and she was well adjusted to that new routine. I started nursing her to sleep, but just until she was alseep. I started hugging and holding her to sleep, and not letting her fall asleep with my nipple in her mouth.

When she was comfortable with that. We started doing a nursing, cuddling routine, but I would leave the room before she totally fell asleep. I said; ?night, night, I will see you when the sun shines.? She learned how to fall asleep completely on her own.

Once she learned how to fall asleep completely on her own. I decided to let her sleep by herself.

We bought a video monitor and got it all set up in her room. But a couple of hours before bedtime, it dawned on me that moving her upstairs into a new room for her first night alone was too big of a leap. I decided that I would leave our master bedroom and she would stay in our bedroom. The only room she has ever slept in since she was a newborn.

It worked like a charm. She did not cry. She did not wake up once.

After spending much time watching her on the monitor, I realized why she still woke up so much at almost 2 years old. She was rolling around all over the place. I realized she must have been rolling around and bumping into me and then waking herself up. Once I was out of the picture and not around to wake her up, she stopped waking up.

So after couple of months of her sleeping in our room by herself, I decided that it was time to move her to her own room. About a week before, we talked about her new room and her new big girl bed and spent plenty of time in there to get her used it.

We had planned on letting her sleep in a toddler bed, but decided last minute that a twin bed was a better idea. The twin we already had in there, could be dropped down to the point where she can climb in and out by herself. I really like being able to lay down in a comfortable twin, while putting her to sleep.

So my baby who was a HORRIBLE sleeper, up every 45 minutes from the time she was born, is now a champion sleeper. ?It?s a full on miracle. ?But really the miracle was me having the courage to against the grain and simply do what was best for my family despite what the ?experts? say.

I can?t express enough how grateful I am to be getting a full nights sleep again. I look back on her first two years and I don?t even know how I functioned on such little sleep. I still feel like I am not caught up on my sleep, but I am getting there.

But there was a time when G.A. Moore wasn?t sure coaching was his.

In fact, Gary Autry ?G.A.? Moore, whose 430 wins are the most all-time in the legendary history of Texas high school football, left the business for a year when he felt a higher calling.

Moore decided he was going to go into seminary and become a preacher. While he was out of coaching for 1971 and became an ordained minister, he decided once and for all the football field was the place for him.

Four decades and eight state championships later ? two with his hometown Pilot Point and six at nearby Celina, the two towns he?s spent 39 of his 45 years in coaching ? he?s still going strong, every win putting his incredible total further out of reach.

But for everything he?s accomplished, his latest accolade came unexpectedly. Moore will be one of nine new members inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame on Wednesday.

?I was pleasantly surprised,? Moore said. ?I don?t feel like I deserve to be in there with those other people.?

That he?s taking the honor with modesty is no surprise. To hear him tell it, his success comes more from being given great opportunities than anything he?s done. He considers Gordon Wood, who won 395 games and a record nine state championships at Brownwood and Stamford to be the king of Texas high school football coaches.

?Gordon Wood held the (wins) record for so long, and he helped me so much,? Moore said. ?The wins he got, everything wasn?t exactly the same. We won state championships in years we were second place in district. There was a time when you had to be first and you only played 14 games. Gordon Wood and Tom Landry were my coaching heroes, and I was fortunate enough to get to spend a lot of time with both of them.?

It?s true that success was right on his doorstep, as his coaching career has rarely taken him far from home.

Moore grew up and still lives on a farm in that has been in his family for 100 years southeast of Pilot Point. He?s a family-oriented man who has been married to ?the perfect coach?s wife? Lois Ann for 50 years and has four children, and they all live close to home.

It?s that set of values he?s tried to instill in his teams.

?I think he puts everyone else first,? said Collinsville coach Danny David, who played for Moore on two state championship teams at Pilot Point in the early 1980s and coached with him for 15 years. ?It was never about winning and losing, it was about turning out good young men. He?s such a genuine man with the way he carries himself. He?s like a second father to me.?

True sports fanatic

When he wasn?t helping in the cotton patch or running cattle as a child, Moore was playing sports. He earned 16 letters in high school at Pilot Point playing football, baseball, basketball and running track before graduating in 1957.

?I just grew up with a bunch of great guys who loved sports,? Moore said. ?That?s just something I did. I had a couple of uncles who were football players. They encouraged me, and I just loved sports from the time I was really small.?

But it was football that was his first love and where he really excelled.

Moore took a scholarship to play for North Texas State University (now the University of North Texas), but his playing career came to a halt because of a broken wrist his sophomore year. That injury kept him out 13 months, and he tried to come back but broke it again as a junior.

Luckily for him, his playing career had taken him far enough where he could pursue his next goal of becoming a coach.

?I woke up about two years through (college) and realized I really wanted to get an education, and I was in that position because of sports,? Moore said. ?If it weren?t for football, I never would?ve been in a position to go to college.?

Moore graduated from North Texas State in 1962 and took the head coaching job in Bryson, where he took a team that was on a 21-game losing streak to a 5-5 record in his only season there.

He returned to Pilot Point and stayed there until his momentary hiatus from coaching in 1971.

While he never pursued a the ministry full-time, he believes the time spent away from the field helped him get his priorities straight.

?I?ve always believed there are four, five, six, seven times in life that you make a decision that affects the rest of your life,? Moore said. ?I think when I got to the point that I put God first in my life and family second, then football or whatever else, that?s when it all turned around. The rest of my career has been unbelievable.?

Moore began his first of three stints at Celina in 1972 and two years later won his first state crown, a co-championship after a 0-0 tie against Big Sandy and star linebacker Lovie Smith, also a member of this year?s Texas Sports Hall of Fame class.

He returned to Pilot Point in 1977 and brought the Bearcats a co-championship after a 0-0 tie in the title game against Tidehaven in 1980. Pilot Point left no doubt the next season, blowing out Garrison, 32-0, in the championship game to cap a 15-0 season.

?Coach Moore could take average kids and get them to do things they never thought they could do,? David said. ?He got average kids to play way above average. I played for him on two championship teams and was a coach with him for five. We never had the best athletes, but we won because of what he was able to get out of kids.?

Moore left Pilot Point again after the 1985 season and headed to Class 5A Sherman for two years, posting 6-4 records in both. But home and the small-school atmosphere called him back to Celina in 1988, and that?s when he began one of the most successful stints in high school football history.

The Bearcats brought home a state crown in 1995, edging Alto, 32-28, in the final, but it was in the late-90s that the Bobcats turned into a dynasty.

They became just the second team in state history to win four straight titles from 1998-2001, a run that included a 57-game winning streak to eclipse the record that Abilene set in the 1950s.

The 1995 team will always mean a little more to Moore, since his son Gary Don, who went on to play at the University of Oklahoma and is now a coach, was the quarterback.

?That?s one of the truly special moments,? Moore said. ?People don?t understand how great that really is. Feeling fit and ready to get back to his passion, Moore emerged from retirement to coach at Aubrey in 2009 and led the Chaparrals to a school-record 11 wins. He?s still going at Aubrey and doesn?t know when he?ll call it quits.

?It?s probably a year-to-year deal,? Moore said. ?I still feel good, and I?m still excited about it and I?m still having a good time. We run 300 mother cows on the ranch, so I?ve got a lot of work to do there, too. I?m going to slow down at some point in some area.?

The course is among a series of professional courses by DREI in cooperation with the real estate licensing department of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) as part of an awareness & knowledge campaign. Such campaign reflects LD?s keenness to disseminate knowledge and awareness of the real estate sector in Dubai through a professional and scientific training.

We have received 80 registration applications so far for the course available in Arabic & English and those registered are basically the specialists working in Dubai?s timeshare, says Mahmoud Al Burai, Managing Director of DREI.

The real estate empowering courses aim at enhancing the knowledge of Dubai?s real estate market generally and in transaction along with clarifying issues and procedures for undertaking a real estate profession here. Al Burai added that DREI introduced the continuing education program targeting the brokers in order to develop their skills and present the latest developments for the real estate professionals.
Al Burai stresses on the importance of the timeshare course in building a timeshare?s professional and specialist brokers, the participants will be accredited by RERA according to him; he calls for dealings with only accredited brokers to avoid cases of fraud and exploitation. Al Burai went to say that the timeshare presents a new opportunity for investors, frequent tourists in Dubai who see the emirate as a distinct destination. It will also boost the real estate and other sectors related to the tourism industry.

Completing the 12 hour training course held in two days is a requirement for obtaining a real estate license. The broker must score 70% in this course as a condition for the issuance or renewal of the broker ID card. The course will focus on the marketing and business approaches in selling or renting timeshare property, LD?s conditions and guidelines related to timeshare, the profession?s charter, the basics for contracting and safeguarding the investor?s rights, noted Al Burai.
The course?s lectures will be presented by Dr. George Morris and lawyer Khawla Al Madani in the presence of the international timeshare expert and consultant Alan Thompson.

Dr. George Morris, one of the lecturers says that the timeshare industry is an important part of the economy; it is the fastest growing segment of the travel industry world-wide. He added that the financial crisis helps to highlight some of the key advantages of timeshare, with currently nine million owners at 7,500 resorts. The Economic conditions creates an interesting situation in Dubai timeshare and vacation ownerships today, where conditions are much more favorable, as the fundamentals, which analysts look for when predicting strong potential for timeshare, are all present in Dubai as it is merging to be a leisure destination.

According to him, timeshare?s developer, sales, marketing and management professionals should deploy strong ethical standards to comply with the regulation and set guidelines, to ensure that every customer is treated as a guest and with the greatest of respect and dignity.

He praised the efforts of LD?s in creating an environment that attracts reputable developers to the timeshare industry and enhances the reputation of this evolving sector.

Highlighting the importance of agricultural education, the Governor said, only good institutions produce good experts for the field and fortunately, there exists tremendous realization at every level that universities are the institutions which can develop skills to cope up with these challenges.
With this fact in mind, he added, the role of this university is gradually expanded of which the Mardan campus has already become fully functional while the Rainfed Campus for Agriculture at Lakki Marwat have been approved.
He also desired to give due focus to provide vocational training to farmers, workers in small-scale rural enterprises, traders and entrepreneurs and to strengthen the agricultural institutions in other parts of the province, which, he said is must to produce better research and extension manpower.
Provision of high quality education, research and dissemination of research findings to indigenous holders is the key towards achievement of the desired goals and the university should not remain content to maintain the statusquo rather continue the struggle to further improve its merit both at the national and international level.
Congratulating the graduates, the Governor advised them that sky should be the limit for them, if they dream high and act with determination and conviction and they will also get the reward. ?Remember, reward or recognition never comes, if you work aiming to get that but it follows, if you work with devotion and without even thinking for that?, he said.
Prof. Dr. Khan Bahadur Marvat, Vice Chancellor of the University earlier presenting the annual report of the university said that their university with 160 PhD faculty; 85 research projects; stands top in the province and second in the entire country.
The scholars of the university, he added, have gained 138 US and 32 JAICA sponsored scholarships purely on merit basis recently, besides 137 scholarships offered by Diya Foundation from within the country.
The university, he added, is also going to provide financial support to the tune of Rs.three million to its students. He also thanked the Governor for gracing the occasion, despite his heavy schedule of engagements. The ceremony was largely attended by educationists, scholars and parents of the graduates.

Clients Are Starting to See Outsourcing's Yoga Benefit

Saving money continues to be the top reason many businesses outsource IT services and business processes. It might not be the smartest reason ? in fact, if that's the sole motivator for a Nearshore project, it could mean nothing but trouble ahead ? but it still pops up at the top of many executive surveys.

But there's another benefit that more decision-makers are now citing more frequently: Flexibility. Yes, just like practitioners of yoga, they see value in being more bendy.

Nearly 70% of the executives questioned for the 2011 Corporate Client Survey said moving work offshore allows them to be more flexible and better poised to adapt to business conditions.

The survey is conducted by the Center for International Business Education (CIBER) and the International Offshoring Research Network Project at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

According to Arie Lewin, CIBER director and international business professor at Fuqua, "For companies that are engaged in offshoring, we've seen a significant jump in the number of respondents who say offshoring activities have led to improved organizational flexibility, from 48 percent in 2009 to 66 percent in 2011."

"As U.S. firms increase the scale and scope of their global sourcing, they are laying the foundation for achieving far-reaching organizational flexibility," Lewin says in a press statement. "They say that with these capabilities, they can redesign processes, enhance efficiencies, improve service quality and enable more effective access to new markets and promoting innovation."

Lewin also says "cost savings are no longer the primary driver" of sourcing strategies.

An earlier survey by Capgemini found similar results, where 60% of executives said outsourcing can make a business more agile. This is not really surprising. What is surprising is that in the Fuqua survey of just two years earlier, only 48% said offshoring had increased their company's flexibility.

You might wonder what was going on with the outsourcing relationships of those clients who did not feel more flexible. Did they manage them poorly? Did the provider cause so many problems that the client spent too much time fighting fires? Either of those is possible. There's no lack of experts who say offshoring can backfire and result in less flexibility to respond to market changes. But I want to talk to some of these clients who've said operations were stiffened rather than made more nimble by outsourcing and find out why they feel that way.

Did the company outsource work only to enhance the bottom line and in the process cut the innovative talent needed at home to respond to business conditions? Did management not even think about flexibility when defining its reasons for outsourcing? Is the company run by a bunch of inflexible penny-pinching bureaucrats? More on all this after further investigation.

One other result from the Corporate Client Survey that's important to highlight: US businesses are still preferring to keep their sourcing relationships at a distance. Says Duke's summary of the survey: "Latin America is emerging as a favored global sourcing site, but U.S. companies have yet to find operational or financial advantages in moving well-established and high-performing far-shore operations to near-shore locations."

That "have yet to find" part is also something that deserves further investigation.
